Ultra Deep Group (UDS) has signed a contract with China Merchants Heavy Industry for the construction of an Ultra Deep installer multipurpose diving support construction vessel.
The new 142m-long vessel is claimed to be the largest among the vessels that are under construction with UDS.
UDS CEO Shel Hutton said: “We are thrilled with this contract and it affirms our company is heading in the right direction to build quality and size-appropriate vessels catered for the future market.
“The current slowdown in the market allows us time to ensure our designs are optimised and customised for relevance in the oil and gas industry.”
According to UDS, the contract is in line with the company’s plan to lead the development and operation of efficient, cost-effective diving and support vessels in the oil and gas industry.
The new vessel is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2018.
“We are thrilled with this contract and it affirms our company is heading in the right direction to build quality and size-appropriate vessels.”
Based on the proprietary design ‘Red Class 6027’ MT design DSCV, the ultra-deep DSCV is installed with Flash Tekk’s 24-man twin bell saturation dive system.
Equipped with twin-24 man SPHL, the vessel will feature a 400 VLT in the reinforced moon pool area.
Moreover, the vessel has two 250HP Work Class ROV’s 3000m working depth equipped in ROV hangers inside the vessel and a 400t crane that offers a depth capability to 5200m single fall and 3200m dual fall.
It also has 1,500m² open deck space with deck strength 10tonne m², enabling the vessel to support different projects that require machinery and equipment.
