The 2017 Global Public Transport Summit is organised around seven themes, which cover all of the most significant innovations presently occurring in the industry.
In less than three months, public transport professionals, decision-makers, and enthusiasts alike will gather in Montréal for the world’s largest public transport event. The 2017 Global Public Transport Summit features over 50 inspiring sessions on topics ranging from autonomous vehicles to customer experience, and the customisable nature of the event means that you can create a day-to-day programme tailored to your interests.
All of the speakers and sessions will be organised according to these seven themes:
- Service Excellence: Discover different strategies for building a culture of service excellence, and fostering motivation, engagement and empowerment in your company
- Decarbonisation: Learn how public transport can lead to more energy efficient urban transport systems
- Digitalisation: Meet the movers and shakers of the digital revolution and assess solutions and opportunities that you will be able to implement in your organisation
- Governance, planning, funding: Discover how ambitious public transport strategy can help define the best possible liveability standards for cities
- Mobility as a Service & Combined Mobility: Learn how autonomous vehicles could be a game-changer for urban mobility
- Bus: Find out the role that buses will play in the future of public transport
- Rail: Hear how rail systems are building new strategies to adapt and survive in the digital age
Spotlight on two key themes: Decarbonisation and Mobility as a Service & Combined Mobility
Prepare for a driverless future
With public tests of autonomous vehicles (AVs) happening across the world and significant investment in the technology by most major automotive manufacturers, public transport professionals must prepare for a new urban mobility environment. AVs have the potential to positively change public transport, but only if we rethink our traditional models of mobility.
The speakers and sessions on Mobility as a Service & Combined Mobility will address the idea of providing ‘integrated mobility platforms’ and reducing car ownership through shared modes of travel. These presentations will provide insight into how AVs can be harnessed to lead to a more sustainable and efficient public transport system.
(For more information on AVs, see the latest UITP Policy Brief, Autonomous vehicles: a potential game changer for urban mobility).
Beyond fossil fuels
The 2015 Paris Agreement (COP21) was a landmark step towards a greener future, signalling the end of the fossil fuel era through ambitious goals to limit the rise in global temperature. The public transport sector must adopt cleaner and more sustainable technologies, focusing on hybrid and electric mobility solutions.
Leading the transition to zero-carbon mobility, the speakers and sessions on Decarbonisation will discuss new policies, success factors and actions to move from concept to implementation with a carbon neutral transformational pathway.
In the coming weeks, UITP will feature interviews with selected speakers on the different themes of the 2017 Global Public Transport Summit. Register now and begin creating your custom event programme. We look forward to seeing you in Montréal!
