DownerMouchel, the joint venture between Australian contractor Downer and UK-based infrastructure and business services company Mouchel, has been awarded a stewardship maintenance contract for the west Sydney area road network.
The new contract includes planning, design and delivery of programmes of maintenance and improvement for road and bridge assets on a road network of 2,200km. It was awarded by Roads and Maritime Services, which is an agency of Transport for New South Wales, Australia.
Scheduled to begin on 31 March 2014, the contract will run for a seven-year period, with an option for extension to ten years. The value of the contract is about $100m per year.
The project also includes an option for related services on the Sydney North Zone road network valued at additional $40m annually.

DownerMouchel currently operates three Integrated Service Arrangements for Main Roads Western Australia involving the delivery of fence-to-fence road network asset management on more than 6,600km of roads.
Downer EDI currently maintains more than 40,000km of roads across Australia and over 32,000km across New Zealand.
