A&R Logistics announced that it has entered into a collaboration agreement with Port Freeport to open an export supply chain facility for the U.S. plastic resin industry.
The project establishes a transportation and plastics packaging facility within Port Freeport to handle the anticipated significant increase in export plastic resins, especially to Latin American destinations. With the Port Freeport facility and A&R’s recently announced venture in the Port of Savannah, A&R offers multiple value-added solutions to meet industry requirements for the resin export supply chain.
Commenting on the agreement, Dan Jaworski, SVP – Sales and Marketing, stated “Approximately $50 billion is expected to be invested in the U.S. over the next 10 years by the Plastics Industry to expand production capacity. Much of the initial production is targeted at Central and South America. We are very pleased to partner with Port Freeport, to offer an immediate solution to the shipper community. The Freeport, TX facility is expected to be up and running in the third quarter of 2017.” Jaworski further commented, “A&R is opening this transportation and packaging facility to provide flexible and efficient supply chain alternatives for the export of plastic resins produced in the U.S.”
