France’s Bordeaux Urban Community (Communauté urbaine de Bordeaux – Cub) has selected Thales to install a new ticketing and revenue collection solution for Bordeaux’s public transport systems.
Thales’ solution will equip Bordeaux’s tram, bus, riverboats and park-and-ride stations with a high-performance, scalable revenue collection solution that accepts multiple fare media, including smartcards, contactless tickets, mobile phones and NFC-enabled smartphones.
Under a ten-year contract, Thales will be responsible for the delivery of all the hardware and software needed for the operation of the entire system.
The systems are expected to be operational in February 2017.
Thales has also been selected by India’s Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to deliver a complete automatic fare collection system and ticketing equipment.
Delhi Metro will use these fare collection solutions on lines 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8, corresponding to Phases I and II of the new metro system.
Within this project, Thales will be responsible for designing, manufacturing and supply of the AFC System for 79 new stations of the Delhi Metro, The Economic Times reported.
It will also manage local supplies along with the installation, testing and commissioning of the AFC system for 25 stations.
According to the report, Thales will supply a total of 895 entry and exit gates, 485 ticket vending machines, 399 ticket office machines, 126 recharge card terminals and 655 validators.
In addition, the scope of the supply includes 50 handheld devices, ten card vending machines, 97 stations servers and three back offices for Delhi Metro stations.
The project is expected to be completed within 30 months.
