Matrix, the award-winning product design and procurement specialist, will showcase its new range of Bio-Form travel amenities and textiles at this year’s World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE®).
Having wowed visitors to the annual event in 2016 with world-first moisturising pyjamas, Bio-Form is similarly set to impress. Created using a patented additive that speeds up the degradation process in landfill, it enables products to biodegrade 100 times faster than traditional plastic and the technology can be incorporated into any plastic polymer.Harry Zalk, Director at Matrix, said: “Almost 90% of the world’s plastic ends up in landfill, taking between 500 and 1,000 years to degrade. This is a very real and present problem.
“We want to help airlines address their environmental concerns and are constantly expanding our product selection to meet demands. Our products biodegrade in landfill in under five years and we’re proud to be proactively combating the impact that humans have on our planet. Unlike other solutions, there is no impact on the product’s appearance, functionality or stability.”
Alongside its Bio-Form products, Matrix will display its innovative assortment of amenities and textiles, including products produced in partnership with The White Company for British Airways. Following its appearance at WTCE 2016, the company has also been working with Qatar Airways First and Business Class to develop new products, exclusively for use onboard.
The award-winning Hydra Active technical textiles range will also take centre stage on the Matrix stand at WTCE 2018. Hydra Active sleepsuits are enhanced with sea kelp, with the fabric using micro-encapsulation technology to continually release nutrients that are designed to combat the effects of dry air on the wearer’s skin, for better hydration and rest while travelling.
The innovations from Matrix continue with its light-weight bedding. Airblend is a duvet technology that enables the company to produce duvets for first or business class that are 30% lighter than conventional duvets with improved heat retention, addressing airlines concerns regarding onboard weight reduction.
Zalk said: “WTCE is a key event for us and has been pivotal in securing some of our biggest tenders. The exhibition provides a great opportunity for us to showcase innovative products, catch up with our existing clients and meet new clients. We’ve exhibited for the last three years and are looking forward to returning to WTCE with our biggest stand yet!”
The team will exhibit at Stand 1A51 in Hall A1 at WTCE from 10-12 April 2018.
