Coradia Stream is a range of state-of-the-art, low floor, high performance electric multiple units (EMU), furnished with onboard ERTMS equipment that ensures the highest levels of European safety standards and quality passenger experience.
The Coradia Stream for Trenitalia will travel through regional and intercity lines, at a maximum speed of 160km/h. The agreement aims to provide Trenitalia with Coradia Stream 3kV electric trains sets that will be single-deck, bi-directional, therefore possessing high levels of energy efficiency and recyclability. The modern trains provide new features that allow travelling passengers to transport bicycles, including both acoustic and electric bikes, and a greater accessibility with sliding steps.
Additionally, with the technical advancements of the Coradia Stream, the agreement aims to improve the quality of experience for both passengers and staff. With the modular design that the Coradia Stream offers, operators have the ability to choose the configuration that addresses their needs.
Another addition to the Coradia Stream trains is the emission-free traction solutions for non-electrified lines.
“This agreement confirms the know-how and experience of Alstom, which provides state-of-the-art trains and railway technologies that are used around the world. This new generation of trains represents the future of Italian regional rail transport. We are proud to give impetus to a passenger-focused vision of green regional transport, in line with national objectives on the ecological transition,” said Michele Viale, General Manager of Alstom Italy.
The designs for the Coradia Stream for Trenitalia have been completed and intend to be built in Italy at Alstom‘s sites in Savigliano, Sesto San Giovanni and Bologna.
