Wärtsilä Ship Design (WSD) Singapore has rolled out its WSD platform supply vessel (PSV) design package for ship owners and shipyards in the Asia Pacific region.
The WSD PSV series consists of four vessels with WSD 600, WSD 750, WSD 800 and WSD 1000 designs in the deadweight range of 3000dwt to 5200dwt.
Developed for enhanced cargo capacity and flexibility, maximum fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and optimised building costs, the design series allows ship owners to select the hulls that are best suited for their needs.
Additionally, they can be customised as per the operational requirements of the owner and for the Asian ship-building process.
The designs feature Wärtsilä’s patented low loss concept (LLC) to reach the highest possible environmental regularity number (ERN) without increasing the engine power, the company said.
Wärtsilä Ship Design Singapore managing director Jan Othman said that fuel efficiency, emissions management, lifecycle costs and reliability have become basic expectations when a vessel is ordered.
“Owners and yards get all these benefits with the WSD PSV series, coupled with designs that have been developed for the Asian ship-building industry,” Othman said.
“With cost efficiencies determining activity, including what kind of vessels to build and where to build them, ship owners and shipyards should take advantage of the total solution offering that comes with the WSD PSV designs.”
“Wärtsilä Ship Design has a unique value proposition for clients in Asia, with capabilities to develop and deliver high-end designs with competitive building costs from our Singapore office.”
Wärtsilä is showcasing its designs at Asia Pacific Maritime 2014, which will take place at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre on 19 to 21 March.
