China’s Shenzhen Baoan International Airport has selected US consumer transaction technologies provider NCR to provide a self-service airport check-in for its new T3 terminal.
The deal includes the purchase of 35 NCR TouchPort kiosks and support services, which let passengers process check-ins, check flight information, apply loyalty membership and scan boarding passes.
They also feature NCR’s patented two-sided thermal paper technology, which the company claims saves up to 40% on paper costs, reduces staff workload and facilitates group check-in.
NCR Travel EMEA and APAC sales vice-president Pedro Carrasco said: “Travellers are looking to technology to make the everyday transactions of life faster and more convenient.
“It’s our first opportunity to demonstrate how NCR technology solutions can enhance the travel experience at Shenzhen Baoan and we look forward to exceeding their expectations.”
The NCR self-service airport check-in solution is completely compatible with the CUSS (Common Use Self-Service) platform and applications used by the airport.
The company is also offering on-site and maintenance services support to ensure the optimal performance of self-service check-in solution for years to come.
The deal was made possible through co-operation with TravelSky Technology, the chief information technology provider of China’s air travel industry, and the provider of the airport’s passenger departure information system.
