Canada-based Searidge Technologies has launched Enhanced Airport Vision Display (EAVD), a HD video system that is designed to provide comprehensive situational awareness of the airport surface.
EAVD is an advanced, customisable human-machine interface (HMI) that displays multiple sources of real-time information to air traffic controllers and airport operations staff. It integrates day and night-visible, thermal and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras.
Video images from distributed cameras are combined together and processed using sophisticated algorithms to provide a panoramic view of the surface displayed on as many or as few monitors required by the customer.
The EAVD is built with a flexible interface for easy integration with other ATC and airport systems, and supports the latest technology including ultra HD resolutions (4K), is camera and platform agnostic and offers fast processing capabilities.
Searidge technologies ATM and airport technology executive vice-president Alex Sauriol said: “Our goal with EAVD was to combine the safety and reliability of our ATC Grade video platform and the most innovative elements of intelligent video technology available on the market.
“We believe that for ANSPs considering video technology EAVD provides a robust, scalable platform that will meet today’s operational needs and support the evolution of tower operations well into the future.”
Searidge noted that EAVD can solve a range of airport challenges including elimination of blind spots, incursion prevention, hotspot monitoring, remote tower services, and perimeter surveillance.
The EAVD is currently available and operational in airports in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
