Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport has unveiled several measures to make skiers’ journeys quicker and easier.
With numerous flights, quick access to ski stations and services designed just for skiers, the airport offers easy access to the Northern Alps, the biggest skiable area in the world.
As many as 20 dedicated members of staff are on hand for skiers arriving at the airport.
The airport features reserved parking spaces adjacent to the terminals and at the new Travel Agency Zone skiers can easily find tourist information and buy transport tickets.
Special racks allow skiers to check in their skis, snowboards and/or kit along with their regular baggage, saving them queuing twice and speeding up the baggage collection process.
A representative from Lyon Airports, along with a security guard, will collect skis or snowboard and take them straight to security.
Airlines including easyJet and British Airways fly to the airport, and transport from the airport is plentiful. TGV trains and ski station shuttles are just two of the ways to get to the Alps in under an hour and a half.
Airport spokespeople said: “In two out of every three cases, getting to ski stations in the Northern French Alps is quicker from Lyon-Saint Exupéry than from any other large international airport.”
