Italian construction company Astaldi has finalised an agreement to carry out the remaining €500m of upgrade work to the Perugia-Ancona direct route and Pedemontana delle Marche national road.
Both the roads form the Maxi-Lot 2 of Quadrilatero Marche-Umbria road network.
The agreement was finalised following a complex series of corporate transactions with the special commissioner of Impresa, SAF and DIRPA, which are all under extraordinary administration procedure.

The company said in a statement that the agreement has been aimed at acquisition by Astaldi of the Quadrilatero business complex and to ensure the completion of a strategic infrastructure for the area, with consequent safeguard of the employment levels of the companies involved in the procedure.
Max-Lot 2 of Quadrilatero Marche-Umbria road network is a complex project and involves upgrading the Perugia-Ancona direct route along the Fossato di VicoCancelli and Albacina-Valtreara Tunnel-Serra San Quirico sections of the SS-76 national road and Pianello-Valfabbrica section of the SS-318.
The work will also include modernisation of the Pedemontana delle Marche, along the route between Fabriano and Muccia/Sfercia.
The overall value of project is €745m, of which about €500m is still to be carried out.
Astaldi is one of Italy’s leading general contractors, and also works as sponsor of initiatives in project financing.
