United Airlines is set to open its newly renovated Boarding Area E in San Francisco International Airport’s Terminal 3.
The 68,800ft² boarding area, which will reopen on 28 January, has been designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification from the US Green Building Council.
The boarding area will have ten gates for United Airlines customers and will be able to accommodate more than 50 departures daily.
It will provide an up-close view of the airfield and the Bay Area from a 23ft-high window wall.
Boarding Area E will provide a number of amenities such as The Flight Deck; an interactive information and entertainment area, comfortable seating options, dining and concession options, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Other features include nine state-of-the-art work stations, access to more than 375 power outlets, a yoga room, and an interactive kids’ play area.
United Airlines vice-president of corporate real estate Kate Gebo said: “We’re pleased to work with San Francisco International Airport on the redesign of Boarding Area E, which is focused on our customers and the things they’ve told us are important.”
“United continues to modernise our terminal facilities, United Club lounges and gate areas, to offer customers a simpler, friendlier airport experience.”
The airline is also making other investments in Terminal 3, including a new reception area for the airline’s Global Services customers and a new check-in area for MileagePlus Premier customers, both slated to open in September.
