ALMACO has secured a new building contract from COSCO shipyard to provide modular cabins, food handling areas and public spaces for the latter’s second semi-submersible in Qidong, China.
The scope of the semi-submersible named Axis Vega will comprise design, engineering, material delivery and installation of 309 modular cabins, a galley, provision stores and refrigeration machinery, as well as material delivery for public areas and supervision for all interior areas.
The company stated that the accommodation vessel will comply with the stringent Norwegian regulations and is expected to be delivered by the end of 2015.
The project strengthens ALMACO’s position in the offshore market, demonstrating its large project capabilities in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
In December 2012, ALMACO was selected to design modular cabins, food handling areas and public spaces onboard axis offshore’s semi-submersible accommodation vessel of GM500A design, Axis Nova.
COSCO (Qidong) Offshore was established in 2008 and is one of the largest yards in the COSCO Shipyard, with a land area of one million square metres and more than 2,000m of berth.
To date, the offshore base has successfully delivered jackup, semi-submersible drilling platform, TLP oil and gas production platform, shuttle tanker, windmill installation jackup, deep water pipe lay vessel, and more besides.
ALMACO is a multi-national company that caters to new builds and retrofits of cruise ships, offshore units and other accommodation vessels, offering cabins, public area, galleys, wet units, provision stores and refrigeration machinery.
