Senior Aircraft Engineer UPECA, a subsidiary of Senior plc and a global manufacturer of high-tech parts and systems, is collaborating with DHL Express to promote ecologically responsible air freight. DHL’s GoGreen Plus sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) will be used by UPECA for all of its global supply needs. As a result, carbon emissions will decrease by 30%.
“At UPECA, we believe SAF is one of the most promising means of decarbonising long-haul flight,” said Kavan Jeet Singh, Chief Executive Officer of UPECA. “Ready for deployment in existing aircraft, it complements intensive efforts to transform aviation into a more sustainable industry. We are delighted to sign up for DHL Express’ GoGreen Plus and help contribute to a commercially-viable market for such renewable energies.”
Driving Decarbonisation with SAF
Customers can use SAF adoption to offset Scope 3 carbon emissions with the GoGreen Plus service, a pioneer in global express logistics. Lifecycle carbon emissions are 80% lower for SAF than for regular jet fuel because it uses sustainable feedstocks like used cooking oil.
Since subscription to GoGreen Plus by UPECA comprises significant marketplaces in North America and Europe, it influences its global trading routes. According to the International Energy Agency, aviation is one of the world’s fastest-growing sources of CO2e emissions; this project is in keeping with their efforts to decarbonise the industry.
The goal of achieving half of the world’s aviation fuel consumption from SAF by 2025 can be achieved with the support of the switch to SAF.
A Global Commitment to Cleaner Air Mobility
Julian Neo, Managing Director of DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei, underlined the significance of SAF adoption:
“SAF is an important lever for achieving cleaner air mobility, but there remains progress to be made on the production and adoption fronts. Having UPECA onboard demonstrates an increasing shift among businesses to explore innovative pathways for a green transition in their operations. These collaborations are essential as we continue to promote SAF accessibility and affordability at the pace needed to address current climate challenges.”
GoGreen Plus: A Sustainable Air Freight Marker
Starting in 2023, the GoGreen Plus service is made feasible by alliances with bp, Neste, and World Energy. These alliances guarantee SAF of over 1.46 billion litres. The DHL Group’s air cargo system accounts for seventy-percent of its carbon emissions. Transport firms are emphasising environmentally friendly air travel choices in order to lower emissions.
Senior Aerospace UPECA and DHL’s interaction reveals that companies are growing more driven to identify innovative and long-lasting solutions for handling climate change. This will enable the aviation sector to develop in environmental friendliness.
