This expansion began with the acquisition of Canada Crane in 2011 and progressed with the rebranding to Sarens Canada Inc. in 2014. Since then, Sarens Canada has been actively involved in various significant projects, including wind turbine installations across the country, the construction of new petrochemical and oil plants, plant expansion and maintenance initiatives, and multiple refinery shutdowns.
Today, Sarens Canada has established branches across Canada and caters to a diverse range of industries, with a strong focus on wind energy, oil & gas, and civil infrastructure. Clients rely on Sarens Canada for both intricate project engineering and daily equipment rentals from its extensive and well-maintained fleet.
Situated in Leduc, Alberta, Sarens possesses cutting-edge facilities to serve northern Alberta, including locations like Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie. It also plays a crucial role in numerous wind turbine projects in southern Alberta and serves clients in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Sarens continues its expansion by opening new branches in British Columbia and Ontario:
- In 2018, it opened a branch in Ayr, Ontario.
- In 2019, a branch in Vancouver, BC, was established to serve the greater Vancouver area and beyond.
- In the same year, a satellite yard was launched in Toronto, Ontario.
- In 2020, the Ayr branch was relocated to Cambridge, Ontario, to accommodate further growth, now serving the greater Toronto area and most of southern Ontario.
- In 2022, a new branch in Sarnia, Ontario, including a Technical Solutions Depot, was opened, catering to several local customers for maintenance and new construction work.
- In 2023, a new depot in Hamilton, Ontario, opened with an ArcelorMittal Dofasco maintenance contract.
Sarens Canada takes pride in its impressive fleet of cranes and transport equipment, which includes various options such as carry decks, all-terrain cranes, RT cranes, crawler cranes, lattice boom mobile cranes, boom trucks, SPMTs, hydraulic platform trailers, gantry systems, jack & slide equipment, tower systems, and SGC Cranes. The standout asset in their fleet is the LG1750 crane, specially designed for wind turbine construction and maintenance, featuring a robust “X” boom and split super lift tray for efficient transitions between components.
For wind projects requiring full rig-downs, the LG1750 can easily move to the next location with an all-terrain carrier, presenting advantages over traditional crawler cranes that demand multiple trailers for transportation. Additionally, the LG1750’s outriggers reduce the need for extensive crane matting, unlike crawler cranes, which require perfectly level mats. These features result in significant time and cost savings, especially on projects with numerous towers.
