Local authorities that are tasked with the challenge of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050 need look no further than AGD Systems’ low power ‘924’ LED WAIT indicator and ‘924R’ retrofit solution for pedestrian signals in traditional pelican and intersection applications.
With local authorities up and down the country looking to upgrade the many thousands of WAIT indicator bulb units located at far-sided pedestrian crossings across the UK to the latest high intensity LED technology, as traditional filament light bulbs are gradually phased out, AGD can provide a cost effective retrofit LED kit or a complete LED WAIT indicator solution.
Delivering significant power savings of up to 80% over existing lamp-based units, AGD’s 924 and 924R retrofit kits are easy to install and fully compatible with all main industry controllers, providing high signal reliability, uniformity and first-class optical performance. In addition, Elexon charge codes are available to ensure local authorities can manage and monitor energy consumption effectively. A typical installation of one hundred 924 LED wait units will save a local authority 25 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions over a five year period compared with a traditional bulb unit.
AGD Systems managing director Pete Hutchinson said: “Achieving cost reductions and carbon savings are key drivers for local authorities. Clients are looking at every opportunity to reduce power consumption and benefit from an overall reduction in running costs to improve the bottom line and lessen environmental impacts.
“Installed and operational in the field within minutes using bespoke bracket fixing, our 924 LED wait retrofit kit is a hugely cost effective solution for any local authority seeking to upgrade its existing street assets to benefit from low power, energy-saving LED technology.
“Since its launch just over 18 months’ ago, over a thousand units of the 924 have been sold to Transport for London (TfL) for planned deployment in and around the Capital. It has also been installed by technical services and solutions provider, Imtech Traffic & Infra, at various locations, including a major traffic signals upgrade scheme in Buckinghamshire funded by a CO2 reduction government grant.
“‘Salix’ funding has allowed local authorities to take advantage of special financing packages to invest in equipment that delivers carbon efficiency savings with typical payback periods of five years. Imtech is also working closely with Lincolnshire and are embarking on similar high volume retrofit schemes under new local authority contracts using the 924R.
