Dr.-Ing. Peter Jürging, Head of Corporate IT of the international logistics company HOYER, wins second place in the voting for the “CIO of the Year 2016†in the “Large Companies†category.
The prestigious award by COMPUTERWOCHE and CIO Magazin was presented under the patronage of Ilse Aigner, Deputy Minister-President of Bavaria and Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs and Media, in the context of a prominently moderated gala in the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich.
This prize, now being awarded for the 14th time by the specialist media COMPUTERWOCHE and CIO Magazin, honours CIOs whose consistent IT strategy gives optimum support to the corporate objectives, as well as offering prospects to their employees and optimum service to users and internal clients. Dr. Peter Jürging (53), Head of Corporate IT of the international logistics company HOYER, convinced the Jury of Experts with his project “Digitising the Transport and Logistics Chainâ€. Dr. Jürging and his team were said to have succeeded in designing digitisation in the HOYER Group in a more modern, intelligent way, and in turning the Industry 4.0 principle into successful business models in all business units in terms of technology, resource efficiency and adaptability.
The ten-member specialist jury recognised the digitisation of the logistics chain as a “Lighthouse Projectâ€. Global freight transports in the areas of chemicals, food, petroleum or liquefied gases would no longer have been competitively transportable without the largely automatic gathering and processing of countless data about people, trucks, cargo and plants. The experts recognised Dr. Jürging personally as a modern CIO who had not only digitised the transport and logistics chain but had also decisively improved the entire Group’s worldwide collaboration through his efforts, and moreover had considerably reduced the complexity of the IT landscape – to everyone’s advantage and benefit.
The international logistics company HOYER was said to have been an innovative pioneer for the whole sector and, through the winning project, to have decisively advanced important future digital topics. Moreover, core processes had been impressively optimised and the entire IT put into a more modern, innovative position.
