Cargotec’s Kalmar to deliver port equipment to Colombia’s TECSA

Cargotec company Kalmar has secured a port equipment order from Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Buenaventura (SPRBun) to enhance operations in Terminal Especializado de Contenedores de Buenaventura (TECSA) in Buenaventura, Colombia.

Valued at €25m, the contract will see Cargotec delivering 14 Kalmar E-One2 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) and six Kalmar forklift trucks.

SPRBun general manager Victor Julio Gonzalez said: “The quality and design of the Kalmar E-One² RTG proved to be commercially very attractive to us, and throughout our long-term relationship Kalmar has always offered us the most efficient solutions as well as spare parts supply.

“As we continue to grow, the possibility of adding Kalmar process automation in the future will help us to maximise productivity in our terminal.”

The new equipment will expand the TECSA’s existing fleet of 26 Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractors.

The delivery under this contract is expected to be completed by April next year.

Kalmar Americas Ports and Terminals vice-president Troy Thompson said: “It is particularly satisfying to have gained this major order that clearly underpins the longstanding partnership between SPRBun and Kalmar.”

TECSA focuses on operations in container, automobile and bulk cargo handling.

The terminal currently handling annual volume of 380,000TEUs and is expected to achieve an increase to 850,000TEU by 2020.
In July, Cargotec received a contract from Austria’s Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) to deliver cargo handling equipment.

Deliveries under this order include seven Kalmar Gloria reachstackers for intermodal handling, three Kalmar TT 618i terminal tractors and one Kalmar DCG 160-12 forklift.
