Norway’s Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract from Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding to deliver integrated vessel control system (IVCS) package for Nautilus’s new production support vessel (PSV).
The IVCS package includes dynamic positioning, marine automation, information management and navigation systems.
Nautilus CEO Mike Johnston said: “We are delighted to have the global technology leader in this field, well known for its extensive portfolio of high performance products and solutions supplying the dynamic positioning, navigation and control systems for our PSV.
“We look forward to reporting on the progress of the integration of this system into the vessel as we move closer to having our PSV ready for mining in Q1, 2018.”
With the IVCS, the new vessel will be able to keep itself within specified position and heading limits during operations.
The solution will also offer oversight and control of critical vessel systems that ensures efficient operation of the vessel.

Moreover, this will support the vessel to minimise fuel consumption and wear and tear on the propulsion equipment.
According to Kongsberg, more than 2,500 dynamic positioning systems have been delivered worldwide so far.
In July, Kongsberg Maritime achieved certification from classification society DNV-GL for three of its latest engine room simulator models developed to deliver in-depth training on the K-Sim Engine simulator platform.
DNV-GL awarded the maritime simulator systems certification to the M42 anchor handling tug and supply K-Sim, DE88 oil rig and DE66 drill ship engine models.
